The New York Giants have declined the fifth-year option on the rookie contract of Daniel Jones, which would have guaranteed his salary at $22.39 million next season.
The Giants believe Jones can still be their quarterback of the future, but he has struggled with his durability and effectiveness.
If Jones has a breakout season, the Giants could use the franchise tag on him during the 2023 offseason.
Matthew Stafford and Odell Beckham didn't play a full season together with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, but they were a productive pair.
Beckham caught 27 passes for 305 yards and five touchdowns in eight regular season games. He added 21 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns in the playoffs.
The wide receiver tore his ACL in Super Bowl LVI.
The Rams haven't re-signed Beckham to this point, and they've added Allen Robinson to their group of receivers. While appearing on ESPN this week, Stafford made a push for L.A. to bring Beckham back.
"I've been in contact with him, both checking on his knee, his new addition to his family, and just letting him know that we'd love to still have him," Stafford said.
"It was an unbelievable blessing to get the chance to play with a talented player like that and honestly, such a great teammate. He was awesome from the second he stepped into our facility, which was a tough situation to learn as much as he had to learn as quickly as he did. It was really impressive to watch him go out there and do his thing and hopefully we get some more time together."
The Arizona Cardinals have picked up the fifth-year option on Kyler Murray, which will guarantee him a salary of approximately $29 million.
Murray was set to enter the final year of his rookie contract, making him eligible for an extension that his agent has publicly stated Murray wanted sooner rather than later.
The Jacksonville Jaguars and Cam Robinson have agreed to a three-year extension worth $54 million.
Robinson was set to play the 2022 season on the franchise tag for a guaranteed $16.7 million and instead will make $18 million annually through 2024.
Robinson, whom the Jaguars selected 34th overall in the 2017 NFL draft, also played on the franchise tag in 2021 for $13.75 million.
Melvin Gordon III has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Denver Broncos.
The deal is believed to be heavy on performance incentives.
The Broncos are expected to open the season with Gordon, Javonte Williams and Mike Boone at running back.
Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed to restructure his contract to create over $9 million in added salary cap space ahead of next week's draft.
Brady is still scheduled to become a free agent after the 2022 season.
Brady retired and subsequently returned this offseason.
The Arizona Cardinals have gone on record to indicate there is "zero chance" the franchise will trade Kyler Murray this offseason.
Murray's future in Arizona has been a topic since his agent, Erik Burkhardt, released a statement last month that explained how a detailed contract proposal was sent to the team.
Recent third-year quarterbacks who have signed extensions have done so in the summer.
"The way we have approached it is we have free agency, we have the draft, and then we will take a deep breath and sort of refocus," John Keim told reporters. "That's sort of the reason every other player that has been a third-year quarterback has been (extended) in the middle of the summer or late summer. It's no different for us.
"Nothing has changed in terms of him being our long-term and short-term quarterback."
Deebo Samuel has revealed that he's requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers.
Samuel did not want to discuss specific reasons behind his request.
Samuel, who was a second-round pick by the 49ers in 2019, is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is line for an extension.
Samuel is coming off a breakthrough season during which he helped San Francisco reach the NFC Championship Game. He finished fifth in the league with 1,405 receiving yards, caught six touchdown passes and rushed for eight touchdowns.
Jarvis Landry is visiting with the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday, according to a report.
Landry was released by the Cleveland Browns in March after a contract restructure couldn't be agreed upon and a trade never materialized.
The 29-year-old had 84 catches for 758 yards and five touchdowns in 2021.
